What I'm Loving...April 2016
It's already time again to share with you 5 things that I am loving this month. You will see a bit of a trend with healthy eating and cooking but I tried to throw in a few other things here and there. You can click on any of the pictures to find out where to get the item! Enjoy!
1. Big Green Egg
This is my favorite time of year. It is warming up outside and I can stop worrying about what to cook every night because it is Clay's turn to grill as much as possible. Salmon, steak, chicken, veggies.....all on a hot grill! This is the way to my heart. Clay is great on a grill but our life got so much better when I bought him a Big Green Egg cooker for Christmas. I wasn't sure that anything would really taste any different, after all, it must be a pretty design to solicit more money. It's not about the grill, it's about the cook, right? WRONG. The Big Green Egg is easy to use, fast to heat and food comes off of it like a magic little morsel of goodness. Healthy eating was boring and a chore for me but the things that come off of this grill make me feel like I'm at a 5 star restaurant. Love it!
2. Wunderlist
I love lists! Like, REALLY love lists. Everything about the whole process appeals to my personality. It's a record of what I've done, it's a way to gage what I have to do, and the moment that I get to check something off is a moment of pure perfection. Yep, I am one of THOSE people that like to put things on a list just to cross them off. Wunderlist is a great app on which you can make lists, share the lists with other people and make notes in the list. You can set due dates and you can check things off. I even like to make my grocery list and share it with Clay so he can add things or check them off when he goes to the store before me (let's be real, this is not an everyday occasion but sometimes)!
3. 21 Day Fix
The path of least resistance is the answer to all of my health and wellness struggles. I'm learning that I need to figure out the ways for diet and exercise to fit into my life as a working woman, wife and mom. My health is a priority and I want to keep it that way. The 21 day fix program has been a great fit for my life. Easy portion control, a great way to enter clean eating and only 30 minutes a day of working out. The best part....I'm doing it with my sister which keeps me accountable and moving in the right direction. We will be starting our next round of the 21 Day Fix on May 8. We would love for you to join us. We'll keep each other accountable and you can even work out with us if you want!
4. Tyme Iron
This is proof that Facebook marketing works. There was a 30 second video that constantly appeared in my newsfeed on Facebook that showed a girl curling her whole head of hair in no time with the Tyme Iron. I watched it over and over until I just couldn't resist. I would love to be able to curl my hair in a very short period of time with a tool that makes it look like a 5 year old could do it. So I clicked, I gave in, I paid and then I waited with much remorse for it to arrive. It came and I was prepared to be disappointed. But I wasn't at all. It makes great curls, it's easy to use and quick to heat up. It doesn't pull my hair and doesn't require me to use a glove to use it. Consider it a win for Social Media marketing!
Clean eating scares me. The more over 30 I get and the more life I live, the more I realize the importance of the food that we eat. I'm by no means an expert or an extremist, but I am trying to be better about paying attention to what is going into my children's mouths and mine. I found this cookbook on the clearance aisle at Barnes & Noble. It had a good number of recipes that I consider to still be normal food and also had some great information on the science behind it all. I love all of the recipes I've tried so far and find most of them to be easy to execute and not too time consuming. It took a little time to find some of the ingredients that are pantry ingredients, but I liked that it gave me alternatives so I didn't have to go to a speciality grocery store. If you've been wanting to try out a clean eating lifestyle, but are too overwhelmed to actually do it, I recommend starting here.
